Old Comic Book Paper Background Texture

How are we already getting into the 3rd week of May? Kids are almost out of school, the ocean is heating up, and I promised myself I’d have abs by now. There just isn’t any time to workout with all of these great happenings in Hampton Roads! Check it out:

May 16: Red Shoe BBQ

Join Ronald McDonald for an evening of fundraising with McDonald House of Charities in Virginia Beach. A $30 ticket price includes food, beer, wine, a silent auction and an afternoon with on air personality, Brandon O’Brien.

May 17: Explosions In The Sky

The Wilderness is Explosions In The Sky’s sixth album, and first non-soundtrack release (Friday Night Lights, anyone?) since 2011’s Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. This is not a band to miss, as they lay different textures of music to fill voids of space. Come out and watch Explosions In The Sky re-define music on a normal Tuesday night at the NorVa.

May 18: History Is Up In The Air

What a great day for history at the Hampton History Museum! Spend the afternoon talking about “The Forgotten Tragedy of the Airship Roma” with Nancy Sheppard. After discussing the disaster, Nancy will be signing copies of her book during the “Lunch in Time” event.

May 18: Groov Cats

After you take a look back in history, end the evening at the Hampton History Museum with The Groov Cats! This band is known for their “neo blues fusion with an infectious groove!”

May 19: Chrysler Museum of Glass

It’s Third Thursday everyone! Yes, this means that the Chrysler Museum of Glass hosts a dinner and a movie at the Museum starting at 5 p.m.! Guests can enjoy a dinner and movie package in Wisteria, but don’t wait! There are limited tickets available for $45. Sitting in the garden is free for all Museum members and students with current ID, $5 for all others.

May 20: The Addams Family

It’s time to see the family that we all know and love… The Addams Family! This musical is sure to please and have you laughing every minute. Follow Wednesday Addams as she falls in love. Opening night is Friday at The Little Theatre of Norfolk.

May 20: Push Comedy

If you are looking for some of the best comedy in town, head over to Push Comedy Theatre. One of Hampton Roads funniest sketch group ‘The Pre-Maddonas’ will be performing an hour long sketch show that will have you in tears from laughter. Grab a beer from the bar and laugh with Push comedy theatre Friday night.

May 20-22: Living History Civil War Event

Discover the role Isle of Wight played in America’s Civil War at Historic St. Luke’s Church. Period music, food, and twilight cemetery tours around the grounds of this iconic church are more than enough reasons to plan your weekend around Smithfield!

May 21: Comicon

It’s that time of year again! Tidewater Comicon is back in Virginia beach. So grab your best cos-play outfit and escape into the world of comics that you have grown up to love!

May 21: Anchor Run

After your Comicon visit, lace up your running shoes, because the 5th annual Anchor Run 5k is here! Events like the 4th Annual Anchor Run help us increase awareness about their scholarships and build relationships with the Navy community that they support.

May 22:Dancing Classes

Put on your dancing shoes! On Sunday, The Chrysler Museum will be hosting dancing classes for all ages. Bring your friends and loved ones and learn the most passionate dances alive.

So what are you waiting for? Get out and experience Spring in Hampton Roads!
