Top 10 Breakfast Spots in Hampton Roads

When visiting one of the many great cities that make up Hampton Roads, it is important to start the day off with a delicious breakfast. You will be faced with many choices, a complimentary hotel breakfast, breakfast bar, or a drive thru restaurant. Why not have a sit down experience instead, with foods infused with local ingredients and flavors.

You should enjoy every part of your day while visiting, so start with breakfast and kick it off with a happy stomach. Your day is not always made to order, but your eggs can be. Here is a list of local favorites and the reasons why we love them.

Virginia Beach:

Citrus – Located away from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, this local breakfast hotspot is well worth the drive. Come see why they were a featured restaurant on Diner’s Drive-Ins and Dives. The pancake batter is made from scratch along with their sweet potato biscuits. If you are thirsty, you have to try their freshly squeezed Mimosas and Signature Bloody Mary’s.

Mary’s Restaurant – This is a family owned and operated restaurant 6 blocks away from the Oceanfront. It has been a staple in Virginia Beach for 40 years and offers quick service at reasonable prices.

Hampton:

Grey Goose Restaurant – This quaint restaurant is located in the heart of historic Downtown Hampton. The Grey Goose is owned and operated by Dana and Phillip Epstein, a husband and wife team who were born and raised in Hampton. They are committed to making your experience fun and unique.

Cracker Barrel – If you are in town looking for a country style breakfast, then look no further. Although Cracker Barrel is a well known chain, it delivers every time.

Newport News:

The Lunch Bell – Located in City Center in Newport News, The Lunch Bell is where working folks come to start their day off right. Whether you indulge in their Malt Waffles or Sausage Gravy, everything is delicious and under $10.

Aromas – Aroma’s is the best coffee shop on the Peninsula. They have been serving their guests for over 10 years with an assortment of flavors and breakfast treats. They have two locations. One in the Newport News City Center and a second in Williamsburg off Prince George Street.

Williamsburg:

Old Chickahominy House – They keep it southern! With country bacon, creamed ham and a Special Rebel Cocktail, the Old Chickahominy House of Williamsburg will certainly be a memorable trip.

Mama Steve’s Pancake House – Family owned and operated for decades. Mama Steve’s is located on Richmond Road in Williamsburg and serves up family favorites that are sure to remind you of mom’s home cooking. We recommend the pancakes.

Norfolk:

D’egg West – D’egg is well-known for the fluffiest omelets in all of Hampton Roads. If you happen to make it out to their location off Hampton Boulevard, be sure to try their Greek Omelet. It is stuffed with asparagus and feta cheese and served with grits or home fries. Delicious!

The Green Onion - They are in prime location on Colley Avenue in Ghent. They offer one of the area’s best brunch menus and can accommodate outdoor seating. So if you like to eat your food and watch the world go by this a great place to do so. They are also walking distance to the Naro and a variety of locally owned shops.
